CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — The Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO) on Tuesday expressed its readiness to perform election duties as some of its personnel were sent to designated polling centers as early as Monday.
Col. Kevin Balayungan, NEPPO deputy director, said 1,185 policemen have been positioned in 738 polling precincts and quick response teams (QTRs) throughout the province.
Balayungan said the police forces are now being augmented by soldiers from the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division (7ID).
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel and paramedics were also given designated posts, he added.
“The deployment aims to assure the safety and security of the community, including voters, and election officials for the May 13 mid-term elections,” Balayungan said.
The security forces will also secure the 2,149 vote counting machines (VCMs) in the province, he noted.
