Number coding for provincial buses suspended on May 10, 14

By Aerol John Pateña | Philippine News Agency

MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the suspension of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number coding scheme for provincial buses on Friday (May 10) and Tuesday (May 14).

The agency said the measure aims to ease travel for commuters going to the provinces to cast their votes in Monday’s mid-term elections.

“The UVVRP suspension is to ensure that there will be enough public utility vehicles to ferry commuters who are going to vote in the provinces,” MMDA said in an advisory on Wednesday.

The number coding scheme for all public utility vehicles and private vehicles is automatically lifted on weekends, May 11 and 12 and on Election Day.
