NWRB: Angat Dam level at 197.85-m, currently under monitoring

By Alec Go

The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) said it is closely monitoring the water level in Angat Dam in preparation for the “reliable” water supply allocation for the dry season.

NWRB Executive Director Dr. Sevillo David Jr. said the water level of the dam, which provides nearly “95 percent” of the water allocation of Metro Manila and its neighboring provinces, is currently at 197.85 meters.

David said the NWRB, together with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) and other government agencies, are ensuring that the current water allocation is “sustained” until summer time amid the threat of the pandemic.

The official said they are “more prepared” this time compared to the situation in 2019 when there were water adjustments, citing that there have already been “mitigating measures” in place such as the use of deep wells.

The NWRB chief, meanwhile, urged the public to observe responsible water consumption through recycling and conserving.
