Obiena sets new PH indoor pole vault record

Filipino pole vault Olympian Ernest John Obiena has again set another indoor pole vault record for the Philippines and placed second in the 2022 Perche Elite Tour in France on Sunday, March 6.

The pole vault star reset his personal best to 5.91 meters in his first attempt, up from the 5.86 meters record last year at the Orlen Cup in Poland. 

This is the new season best of Obiena following his 5.81-meter performance in the 2022 Orlen and 2022 Orlen Copernicus Cup last February.

The latest event of Obiena was topped by Christopher Nilsen of America with 6.05 meters, while the bronze medal was achieved by Brazilian vaulter Thiago Braz with 5.91 meters. PTV Sports/AG-rir
