By NG Seruela

The OCTA Research team recently reported that the number of National Capital Region (NCR) daily Covid-19 cases was on a “downward trend” the past week.

In a report issued on Sunday (April 25), the OCTA team said the current reproduction number of the region is at 0.93 while the average number of new Covid-19 cases per day is 3.841, for the week of April 18 to 24.

The current average is 30% lower than the “peak of the surge three weeks ago, with a one week growth rate of 20%.”

Moreover, the positivity rate in NCR dropped to 19%, compared to three weeks ago at 25%. It also added that the hospital bed capacity in the region has declined to 51% while the ICU bed capacity dropped to 71%.

“Solid downward trends (with at least two consecutive weeks of negative one-week growth rate) were observed in Pasay, Manila, Navotas, Muntinlupa, and Caloocan. Negative growth rates were also observed in Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, and Bulacan,” the OCTA group reported. -jlo
