October 2019 inflation eases to 0.8%

The country’s inflation, the price movement of goods and services, was tagged at 0.8% in October 2019, the lowest since May 2016, says the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This was attributed to the continuously decreasing prices of food, particularly rice. The cost of chicken, however, has soared. The PSA explained that the National Capital Region and Region III, both afflicted by African swine fever, suffer from price inflation on food, particularly meat.
