‘Odette’ kills 39 DepEd7 personnel

A total of 39 personnel of the Department of Education Central Visayas (DepEd 7) reportedly died due to Typhoon Odette which made landfall in mid-December.

This was confirmed by DepEd 7 Regional Director Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, saying that the majority of the victims were swept away by waters during the typhoon’s onslaught.

The office assured it will provide assistance to the calamity’s victims, and asked that teachers heavily affected by the typhoon will not be compelled to report.

Meanwhile, the current power supply problem in the province remains a challenge in the printing of modules. This has prompted the regional office to advise localities to suspend classes until the normal situation is restored.

Typhoon Odette was estimated to have affected hundreds of schools and left billions-worth of damages in Central Visayas. – Report from John Aroa (PTV Cebu)/AG-rir
