MANILA — Severe Tropical Storm (TS) Odette has maintained its strength and has remained “almost stationary” Saturday morning, the state weather bureau said.
“Odette”, which has maximum winds of 90 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 113 kph, was last eyed 275 km. west-northwest of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
It is heading west-northwest at 10 kph and is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Saturday.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected within a 400-km. diameter of the tropical storm, according to PAGASA.
Pangasinan is currently under tropical cyclone warning signal no. 1.
Meanwhile, “Odette” will cause cloudy skies and moderate to occasionally heavy rains with thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Mimaropa and Western Visayas.
The rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains with thunderstorms due to the trough of the TS.
In Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies, isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or in the evening, are expected.
Moderate to strong winds will blow from southwest to southeast over Luzon, and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, moderate to occasionally strong winds will prevail with moderate to occasionally rough seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
