Optional face mask use proposal gets mixed reactions from netizens

Netizens offered mixed reactions to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ (IATF-EID) proposal to relax the use of face masks outdoors.

In a Palace briefing on Wednesday, Sept. 7, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles said the IATF resolution covers only outdoor settings or low-risk areas and individuals.

Some netizens were in favor of the recommendation, but said they will still opt to wear their face masks for added protection.

“Yes, I agree! But for my own safety, I will still wear [a] mask…

Another netizen said that relaxing face mask restrictions should not be a problem for fully vaccinated persons.

Meanwhile, for others, the national government should have lifted the mandatory mask mandate a long time ago.

Complete vaccine with booster na, ano pa gusto ng [Department of Health]?”
