Orogo respects PRRD’s naming of next DSWD chief

MANILA – Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Acting Secretary Virginia Orogo on Friday welcomed the announcement of President Rodrigo Duterte on the appointment of the next DSWD chief.

President Duterte on Thursday night announced that retiring Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Rolando Bautista will replace Orogo to head the DSWD.

In an interview by the Philippine News Agency, Orogo said “yan ang decision ng Presidente. Ginagalang po natin yan (That’s the decision of the President. We respect that).”

“We serve at the pleasure of the President,” Orogo said.

Orogo was appointed as DSWD Acting Secretary in April this year.

Under the helm of Orogo, the DSWD committed to the lowering of the poverty incidence rate from the current 22% to 14% before the end of President Duterte’s term on June 30, 2022. (Perfecto Raymundo, Jr./PNA)
