Ospital ng Muntinlupa experiencing ‘overcapacity’

The utilization of beds at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) has already exceeded its full capacity.

According to the hospital, the occupancy rate of intensive care unit (ICU) beds is at 142% and the COVID-19 wards at 111%.

“Puno pa rin, overcapacity pa rin tayo, pero ginagawa na natin ang lahat para ma-accommodate… Nili-limit natin yung non-COVID at mabilis ‘yung turnaround time [It’s still full and at overcapacity, but we are doing everything to accommodate patients… We have limited the non-COVID and the turnaround time is faster],” OsMun Hospital Director Dr. Edwin Dimatatac told PTV News today.

The hospital’s management is now coordinating with the local government to limit the admission to moderate to severe cases, and for mild cases to be brought to isolation facilities.

Due to the number of cases, the government is now opening up more quarantine facilities, including a facility in Filinvest Tent that can accommodate up to 200 patients.

Meanwhile, both the hospital and the local government are urging the public to grab the opportunity to get vaccinated versus COVID-19.

At least 80% of healthcare workers in the hospital have been vaccinated, while the inoculation of senior citizens and persons with comorbidities is ongoing. – Report from Louisa Erispe/AG-jlo#
