On November 13, 2024, the Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted a parcel containing methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, worth P1.564 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City

The parcel, shipped from California and addressed to a recipient in Taguig City, was flagged during a routine inspection and found to contain 230 grams of illegal drugs.

The illicit substance was turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and further investigation will be conducted for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).

Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio emphasized the agency’s commitment in combating drug trafficking, stating, “This interception is a product of the heightened security measures of the Bureau to protect our borders against any attempt to import illegal drugs.”

District Collector Yasmin O. Mapa reaffirmed BOC-NAIA’s relentless efforts to prevent the entry of illicit goods into the country.
