Overseas voter turnout at 27%

The Commission of Elections (Comelec) reported on Saturday, May 7, that 27.84% of registered voters overseas have so far cast their ballot for the May 2022 polls.

Comelec added that of the 1,697,215 registered overseas voters, some 472,559 have already exercised their right of suffrage as of May 7.

Of the number, the Middle East and African region recorded the highest number of voters at 786,997; followed by the Asia Pacific Region at 450,282; the North and Latin American Region at 306,445; and the European Region at 153,491.

In 2019, the final voter turnout was 18%.
