OWWA grants scholarships to children of OFWs affected by COVID-19

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is granting scholarships to children of the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) gravely affected by the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to OWWA Administrator Atty. Hans Leo Cacdac, the Educational Assistance through Scholarship in Emergencies program (EASE) aims to help qualified college students and dependents of active OWWA members.

The EASE program has no strict deadline since it is a financial aid yearly given to beneficiaries in the collegiate level.

OWWA Admin. Cacdac disclosed that aside from EASE, there is also an educational development scholarship that has a grade point average requirement. The aspirant must pass the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) exam conducted every year.

OWWA also introduced another scholarship, the OFW Dependent’s Scholarship Program (ODSP) for low income OFWs with children working as housekeepers.
