BACOLOD CITY — Anti-drug operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized PHP1.02 million worth of illegal drugs from a woman in a buy-bust conducted at her residence in Charito Heights, Barangay Granada around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The suspect, Myla Velano, 31, a newly-identified drug personality considered a high-value target, was arrested during the operation carried out by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) headed by assistant team leader Inspector Adrian James Albaytar.

Albaytar said in a media interview that the “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) seized from the suspect arrived earlier on Thursday, and she started to distribute some of the supply before her arrest.

Aside from Bacolod, she also supplies to her contacts in the adjacent cities of Talisay and Silay.

Velano’s husband is serving a drug sentence at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.

The anti-drug unit confiscated from Velano 17 sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 85 grams, a weighing scale, and the PHP2,000 marked money.

Velano, who is detained at Police Station 5, is facing charges for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Last June 10, two women were also arrested in a buy-bust, which yielded PHP238,000 in “shabu” at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2 in this city.

The suspects were identified as Ann Frances Yusay and Melanie Ramos.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Negros Occidental recovered eight sachets containing 35 grams of the prohibited substance from the two suspects. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
