P1.1-M drugs recovered in Cebu

CEBU CITY — One hundred grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” worth PHP1.1 million was recovered by police operatives in Consolacion, Cebu Friday morning.

Consolacion Police found the contraband in a culvert in Barangay Pulpogan 1 following the arrest of three suspected drug personalities in a buy-bust operation Thursday night.

The interrogation of the three suspects led to the discovery of the drugs as one of them, Cris Mata Ortega, eventually revealed the location of the bulk of his stash, which was well-hidden in the concreted sewer near his house.

Arrested along with the 35-year-old Ortega were six-month pregnant Jenny Montesioso Jaime, 32, of Pulopogan 1 and Geran dela Victoria Ligan, 29, of Talisay City, Cebu.

Seized from the suspects during the 9:30 p.m. Thursday raid were five small plastic sachets of shabu worth PHP1,700.

The suspects are currently detained at the Consolacion Police Station while appropriate charges are being prepared against them.

The Oplan Limpyo Lacion (Oplan Clean Consolacion) operation was led by acting municipal police station head Chief Insp. Gerard Ace Pelare. (PNA)
