IMUS CITY, Cavite – The city government of Imus said it targets to complete its PHP1.4-billion state-of-the-art new home on Pedro Reyes Street in Malagasang I-G Village by 2021, that is expected to be fully operational by 2022.
City information and concurrent tourism chief Edgardo ‘Jay’ Saquilayan said the project, which was conceptualized and designed by the City Architect Office based on green architecture principles, will house the city’s Executive and Legislative buildings and other national government offices.
The new building, which is intended to be energy efficient, environment-friendly, accessible and sustainable, is the city government’s response “to the Imuseños growing needs and increasing demand for better services, as well as to accommodate and bolster the city’s growing economy,” Saquilayan added.
The 30,148-square meter, 5-storey Executive building will house the Business One Stop Shop (BOSS) and other frontline services in its ground floor.
The remaining floors shall house the executive offices (mayor’s, tourism and development, information, youth affairs engineering and architect’s offices to name a few) plus a fully equipped wellness space to ensure wellbeing and increased productivity of the city government workers.
On the other hand, the 11,154 square meter, 3-storey Legislative building, will house the office of the vice mayor, the city council and other national government agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec), among others.
A session hall will be constructed adjacent to this building.
The new government center will be built next to the ‘Ospital ng Imus,’ the first public hospital in the 3rd district of Cavite which formally opened to serve the public last Friday (Oct 12).
Besides the government center, another PHP 400 million was earmarked for the City of Imus Coliseum project – a 4,500 capacity coliseum, envisioned to be the venue of concerts and indoor sporting activities.
The 9,300 square meter coliseum, located within the new city hospital complex, is expected to be completed by 2021.
