BACOLOD CITY — An estimated PHP150,000 worth of “shabu” was seized by operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 6 (PDEA-6) in a drug den at Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2 here late Wednesday afternoon.

A report of PDEA-6 stated that during the raid around 5:15 p.m., eight persons were arrested, including houseowner and alleged drug den operator Carlos Sonico as well as a male minor, who was working for him.

Six others were arrested inside the house of Sonico. They were identified as Kiefer Salnac, Wendyl Arsenio, Anthony Cadungo, Ernie Magbanua, Kerwin Hablero, and Wilfredo Diaz.

The anti-drug operatives seized from the suspects 25 sachets of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 30 grams, drug paraphernalia, and PHP2,628 cash.

The suspects, detained at Bacolod City Police Station 2, are facing charges for various violations of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The December 6 raid is the second major operation of PDEA-6 in Bacolod in recent weeks.

Last November 16, anti-drug operatives seized about PHP525,000 worth of “shabu” in a buy-bust on Lopez Jaena Street in Barangay 31.

Suspect Nasser Mariga, 23, a native of Marawi City, was then arrested for possession of about 125 grams of “shabu” and two automatic rifles. (PNA)
