P150K worth of ‘shabu’ seized in Bacolod buy-bust op

BACOLOD CITY — Bacolod City policemen have seized an estimated PHP150,000 worth of “shabu” from three suspects during a buy-bust operation along 6th Lacson St. here Monday afternoon.

Police identified the suspects as Arnold Elorde, 39, his common-law wife Analyn Senorio, 49, and Ma. Emily Yulo, 50.

The transaction between the undercover agent and the suspects took place at about 3:30 p.m. in a car owned by Yulo. Confiscated from the three were five sachets of suspected “shabu”, a weighing scale, and PHP1,000 in marked money.

The suspects were detained at the city police station and will be charged with violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Last Friday, police also arrested a high-value target in a buy-bust operation at the Abada-Escay relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre here.

Chargotte de Asis, 28, suspected member of the Berya drug group, yielded PHP225,000 in “shabu” during the operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) at about 4 p.m. His partner, Regin Tabara, 28, was also arrested.

According to the CDEU, de Asis was monitored distributing illegal drugs hours before the operatives raided his house. He had been in the drugs watch list since 2017, it added.

The operations against the groups of Elorde and de Asis were the latest major drug hauls in Bacolod since last month.

Last Feb. 2, police confiscated PHP300,000 worth of illegal drugs from two members of separate drug groups in an operation in Barangay Mandalagan. Arrested were Elias Cabugatan, believed to be the right-hand man of a drug group leader, and Edwin Vivero, reportedly a member of another drug group.

On Jan. 26, operatives of the City Intelligence Unit seized an estimated PHP400,000 worth of “shabu” in an operation in Barangay Villamonte. The illegal drug was seized from Carla Umadhay, 24, a resident of Barangay 27, who was arrested along with Romeo Gumban.

On Jan. 29, some PHP180,000 worth of “shabu” was seized from Corazon Vergel, 64, in Barangay Matab-ang in adjacent Talisay City.
