P2.72-B worth of shabu seized in Pangasinan, La Union

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized illegal drugs worth P2.72 billion on Friday, Aug.12, from a Chinese national and five Filipinos in buy-bust operations in Pangasinan and La Union.

PDEA arrested a 49-year old Chinese national residing in San Vicente Sur, Agoo, La Union, along with three Filipinos.

An estimated 360 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) packed and labeled as Chinese tea was seized.

Meanwhile, another 40 kg of shabu worth P272 million was seized from two arrested individuals in a follow-up buy-bust operation in San Fernando, La Union.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva commended the military and law enforcement from PDEA Intelligence Service, PDEA RO1, PDEA National Capital Region, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Task Force NOAH, AFP Team Navy, Bureau of Customs, and the Philippine National Police.

The arrested suspects will be charged for Violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
