P3-M worth of ‘shabu’ seized, 2 arrested in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY — Anti-drug operatives of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized an estimated PHP3 million worth of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a buy-bust operation at Barangay 1 here Wednesday night.

The Police Regional Office-6 said in a report the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) led by Superintendent Victorino Romanillos conducted the operation at Purok Bangrus around 10 p.m., which led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Rayden Palomero and Rica Mitch.

Operatives confiscated from them 16 sachets of “shabu” weighing 260 grams with an estimated value of PHP3 million, along with the PHP5,000 marked money and three bank deposit slips.

The two suspects, who are detained at Police Station 2, are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The Wednesday night operation came two weeks after the CDEU personnel seized PHP1.02 million worth of illegal drugs from a woman in a buy-bust at Charito Heights, Barangay Granada.

The suspect, Myla Velano, 31, who was arrested on June 21, was a newly-identified drug personality considered a high-value target.

Last April 10, the CDEU team also recovered an estimated PHP3.7 million worth of “shabu” in a buy-bust operation at Barangay 33.

The operation led to the arrest of Jeffrey Virgel, 35, a resident of Purok Cheresa, Barangay 27, who was billeted at RN2 Building on Rosario Street when he was arrested.(Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
