MANILA – Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Chairman Dante Jimenez on Thursday assured that the commission’s memorandum of agreements (MOA) with various government offices will be put into action to boost President Rodrigo Duterte’s war against corruption.
Jimenez made this assurance two days after the PACC and the Commission on Audit (COA) signed an “action-driven” MOA which essentially covers areas of coordination and cooperation and referral of information.
Under the agreement, Jimenez said the PACC and COA will form a joint task force which will go after abusive public officials.
“I’m happy that Chairman Mike Aguinaldo (was able) to sign this on October 2,” Jimenez said as he delivered his “Ulat sa Bayan” report to mark the PACC’s first anniversary during “The Presser” forum organized by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) at the Palacio Del Gobernardor in Intramuros, Manila.
Jimenez said the PACC has similar “action-driven” agreements with other government offices particularly the Office of the Ombudsman and Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
The PACC was created through Executive Oder No. 43, signed by Duterte on Oct. 4, 2017, to “directly assist” the President in investigating and/or hearing administrative cases involving graft and corruption against all presidential appointees.
For the last six months, Jimenez said the PACC has received 411 documents and reports, including 59 “verifiable” complaints against various government departments and agencies.
PACC Commissioner Grego Beljica, meanwhile, revealed that 50 to 80 officials are being investigated for corruption.
Jimenez said the PACC has conducted dialogues with at least 20 line agencies officials to hasten the investigation against erring officials. (Jelly Musico/PNA)
