Two of the famous foes of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao have announced their retirement, leaving the square ring to the next era of the fist fighters.
On Saturday, former two-weight class world champion, Timothy Bradley confirmed his retirement after he served his commentating duty on the WBO Junior lightweight fight of Vasyl Lomachenko and Miguel Marriaga at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
On his Instagram post, Bradley expressed his fulfillment on his boxing career, turning his responsibilities as a father to his family.
“I find my strength in them, my peace and most importantly, unconditional love. I wake up wanting to spend all my time being a father, being a husband and being free. Although that square circle I lived to dance in everyday gave me so many smiles and blessings, it could never out weigh the smiles and blessings I receive from my wife and children. It’s now my turn to support them and encourage them to live their dreams and I couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter.”, Bradley said.
“I hope to continue to allow boxing in my world through teaching, commentating and being a fan of a sport I love so dearly.”, the American boxer added.
The 33-year-old Bradley earned a total of 37 fights 33-2-1 during his career, with only two losses he gained after fighting Pacquiao in a triple series of match.
On the other hand, Mexico’s ‘El Dinamita’ Juan Manuel Marquez has retired his gloves after fighting within the 24 years of his profession.
Marquez came up with his decision on Friday, making it as a good resort to deal with the injuries he sustained in previous fights.
“Today is a special and sad day for me because I’m announcing my retirement. The injuries pushed me to make this decision. It hurts, but I believe the right moment to put an end to my career has arrived,” Marquez said on ESPN Deportes TV show Golpe a Golpe.
“I would have loved to do a final fight to say goodbye inside the ring, but I have to listen to my body, and it was telling me that the right moment to stop boxing is now.”, the Mexican boxer stated.
Back in 2004, first duel of Pacquiao-Marquez staged inside the ring that went in a controversial split draw – pushing them to continue to conquer their titles in a trilogy of fights.
However, when the two battled each other in their fourth face-off, Marquez shattered aggressor Pacquiao in the seconds of round four, knocking out Pacman to claim the victory.
