‘Paeng’ almost stationary: PAGASA

MANILA — Typhoon Paeng is almost stationary, as it was last eyed 715 km. east of Basco, Batanes, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

“Paeng” has maximum sustained winds of 200 km. per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 245 kph, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) added.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the Zamboanga Peninsula and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao due to the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Strong to gale force winds will blow over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong with moderate to rough seas, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina Arayata/PNA)
