Pag-asa Island, balak gawing military logistics hub ng AFP

Balak ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na gawing military logistics hub ang Pag-asa Island sa West Philippine Sea.

Ayon kay AFP Chief General Cirilito Sobejana sa isang interview noong Martes (May 4), iminungkahi nila na gawing logistics hub ang Pag-asa para hindi na babalik pa sa Puerto Prinsesa ang kanilang mga barko upang mag-refuel at kumuha ng kagamitan.

Aniya, sa ganitong paraan ay mas epektibo nilang maipagpapatuloy ang mga sovereignty patrol sa WPS at mas mabibigyan ng proteksyon ang mga mangingisdang Filipino.

Kasama rin sa kanilang plano ang pagkumpuni sa mahigit isang kilometro nitong airstrip.

Dagdag ni Sobejana na gusto rin ng AFP na magtayo ng recreational facility sa Pag-asa kung saan pwedeng mag-relax ang mga miyembro ng militar kapag naka-bakasyon sa serbisyo.
