Pag-ban sa mga manlalakbay mula South Africa, 6 pang bansa, ipinatutupad na ng BI

Simula ngayong araw (Nob. 28), hindi na pinapayagang makapasok sa Pilipinas ang mga manlalakbay mula sa South Africa at anim pang bansa.

Ang naturang hakbang, ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, ay upang maiwasang makapasok sa bansa ang bagong Omicron COVID-19 variant.

Bukod sa South Africa, pansamantala ring ipinatupad ang ban sa mga bansang Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini, at Mozambique.

Lahat din ng may travel history mula sa mga tinukoy na bansa sa nakalipas na 14 araw ay kasama din sa ban.

Una nang inaprubahan ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases ang suspensyon ng inbound international flights mula sa mga bansa na may local cases o nagkaroon ng Omicron variant.
