PAGASA: Expect better weather as southwest monsoon weakens

MANILA — Better weather is expected on Tuesday due to a weakened southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

“Due to the weakening of the southwest monsoon, the country will have better weather,” PAGASA weather specialist Ariel Rojas said in a weather forecast on Monday afternoon.

Metro Manila and other areas will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the afternoon and evening due to local thunderstorms, according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather bulletin.

The state weather bureau cautioned of possible flooding and landslides due to scattered rains or thunderstorms in these areas.

Rojas added that PAGASA does not expect any other weather system to form or enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the next three days.

Luzon will also experience slight to moderate seaboards, while Visayas and Mindanao will have slight to moderate seaboards.

However, no gale warning was issued in the country in the next 24 hours, allowing fisherfolk and those with small boats to head out to sea.

PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-34 degrees Celsius across the country until Friday.
