PAGASA: Expect warm weather in the coming days

According to Esperanza Cayanan, Deputy Administrator for Research and Development of PAGASA, there is an increase in daily temperature over most parts of the country.

The state weather bureau pressure analysis also indicates the slowly shifting direction of prevailing winds, from north easterly to easterly, and the weakening of high pressure area in mainland Asia as well as the gradual strengthening of the North Pacific High.

Considering the changes in wind patterns and pressure systems, these signify that the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan Season is about to end this week. Warm and dry season will commence shortly when “titindi po ang init na mararamdaman natin (we will feel more heat)”.

The number of warm and dry days across the country will gradually increase, but isolated thunder storms are likely to occur especially in the afternoon or evening hours.

In PAGASA’s latest forecast, highest temperature is expected to spike at 40.9 degrees Celsius in the northern parts and lowlands of Luzon in May.

The state weather bureau advised the public to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and prevent accompanying health risk with this climate condition. – Cleizl Pardilla
