PAGASA officially announces start of rainy season

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has officially declared the onset of the rainy season.

The state weather forecast agency, over the past few days, has recorded a widespread of rainfall within the western part of the country—Metro Manila included—due to the southwest monsoon or “Habagat”. In the coming days, the western section of the country will continue to experience rains and thunderstorms.

While rains are expected, the country will still experience dry periods or monsoon breaks that can last for several days to two weeks.

PAGASA assured that they will continue to closely monitor the situation and will issue appropriate updates and advisories. Meanwhile, PAGASA also advised the public and all concerned agencies to exercise vigilance by placing preventive measures against the impacts of the rainy season. (AVDS/PTV)
