PAGASA: TD Gorio, southwest monsoon to bring rains over MM, parts of Luzon, Visayas Wednesday

MANILA, July 26 — The southwest monsoon affecting the western part of Luzon and Visayas will bring light to moderate rains over Metro Manila, other parts of Luzon and Visayas, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

Meanwhile, tropical depression “Gorio” was last eyed at 440 km northeast of Borangan City, eastern Samar.

With maximum sustained winds of 60 km/h near the center, and gustiness of up to 75 km/h, “Gorio” is likely to affect the southwest monsoon.

“Gorio” is forecast to move north northwest at 15 km/h.

No tropical cyclone warning signal was raised as of Wednesday morning.

Moderate to occasionally strong winds will blow from southwest to south over northern and western sections of Luzon, and from southwest to west over the rest of the archipelago.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Visayas, Caraga, Zambales, Bataan and Aurora.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country, the agency added.

The country’s coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough, PAGASA said. (Ma. Cristina C. Arayata/PNA)
