Pagsabak ng mga unregistered nurses sa laban sa COVID-19, iminungkahi

Iminumungkahi ni House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco na isabak na ang mga unregistered nurses bilang dagdag na health workers sa laban kontra COVID-19.

“Since na-postpone din recently ‘yung nursing board exam, we can actually tap ‘yung mga supposedly magbo-board exam and use them as health workers,” ani Velasco sa isang panayam sa radyo kahapon (Mayo 5).

Ayon sa mambabatas, mag-aapela siya sa Department of Health (DOH) at sa Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) para mapunan ang kakulangan ng health workers sa bansa. 

Aniya, ang mga unregistered nurses ay maaaring magtrabaho sa ilalim ng gabay ng isang registered nurse o doktor sa pamamagitan ng special arrangement sa PRC. 

Para naman sa Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines (PHAP), malaking tulong ito kung papayagan ng DOH at PRC.

Kahit limitado lang ang pwedeng gawin ng mga ito, kung may direktang gabay ng isang licensed nurse, ay makatutulong daw ito sa iba’t-ibang medical procedures.  

“As long as they are under the direct supervision of the registered nurse, pwede ‘yun eh. Kasi ang mananagot dyan, ‘yung registered nurse. Kaya hindi sila basta pababayaan nu’ng licensed nurse, so everything na ginagawa nila should be monitored closely,” paliwanag ni PHAP Pres. Rene de Grano.

Bukas naman ang DOH dito, lalo ngayong nangangailangan ang bansa ng karagdagang manggagawa sa mga ospital.

“Kasi may Nursing Act po. Nakalagay po sa Nursing Act ang pwede lang bigyan ng temporary permits would still be the licensed nurses. Mayroong ganu’ng probisyon sa law, ang isa na lang pong hiling [ay] agahan ‘yung board exam,” ani DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire. – Ulat ni Daniel Manalastas/AG-jlo
