PAL bares road closure in Mactan, Cebu

MANILA — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) on Thursday evening advised passengers traveling to and from Cebu this weekend to plan their travel to the airport as there will be road closures in Mactan, Cebu on Aug. 4-5.

“The local government unit will provide directional signs to guide motorists on alternative routes,” PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

In an advisory, PAL said the roads to be closed on Aug. 4 from 4:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. are the Angasil Road up to Mangal Engan; all side of the roads leading to a triathlon event’s route; and the main entrance of Mactan New Town Center up to Angasil junction to Angasil access road.

Passengers may opt to take the Sangi Motumbo road, or the Benito Ebuen Airbase if they’re heading for Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

The roads to be closed on Aug. 5 are the First Mactan-Mandaue Bridge; the left portion of the MLQ National Highway – Pajo, from first bridge junction up to the airport junction; the whole stretch of the national road from the airport junction up to Discovery Bay; the Mactan circumferential road from the Mactan junction to Marigondon Crossing; and the stretch of Basak, Marigondon road, Maximo Patalinhug and First Bridge.

PAL said passengers may take the Marcelo Fernan Bridge as this will be open to motorists coming from Mandaue City going to the airport and vice versa.

“We also advise our passengers with flights departing from MCIA to leave their houses early so they could make it to the airport on time,” Villaluna added. (PNA)
