PAL launches Cebu-Camiguin route

CEBU CITY – Philippine Airlines (PAL) inaugural flight to Camiguin, PR 2929, took off Mactan Cebu International Airport Friday morning to open its 33rd local destination and 47th local route in the country.

The Bombardier Q300 with 53 passengers including local officials of Camiguin and PAL officials touched down Camiguin Airport at 12:20 p.m. Friday.

Rabbi Vincent Ang, Assistant Vice President for Commercial and Development of PAL Express, said they are opening more local destinations next year with the arrival of five Bombardier Q400, a new generation “jet-like” turboprop, and two more in 2019.

Ang said the opening of new destinations is part of PAL’s commitment to provide inter-island connectivity at the fastest time and boost the region’s business and tourism activities.

He added that PAL would have also included the Manila-Camiguin route but the current air traffic congestion at the Manila airport made it impossible for now. (PNA)
