Malacañang has called for public cooperation while waiting for the decision of President Rodrigo Duterte on the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
“Eh mukhang gumagana na ang ECQ at nagsisimula na ang flattening of the curve. Huwag po natin sayangin. So ‘yung sinabi nga po ni Presidente, kung hindi makikipagtulungan ang ilan sa atin, pwede niyang tawagin ang Hukbong Sandatahan (The ECQ seems to be working and the flattening of the curve has started. Let us not waste it. The President has said that if some people will not cooperate, he will call on the Armed Forces),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque reiterated.
Roque shared the Chief Executive is waiting for the new report of Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) before releasing a new directive. The President is closely monitoring the situation and continues to coordinate with various government agencies.
Roque assured the government will be transparent and will provide confirmation once the report is received by the President.
Meanwhile, Roque relayed how the President Duterte wants the government to think of measures to provide more assistance to COVID-19-affected workers as Congress is set to return to session next month. He also expressed belief the leadership of both houses has a similar goal. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
