Palace: No PRRD election plans in SONA speech

President Rodrigo Duterte’s political plans for the upcoming 2022 national elections are not included in his final State of the Nation Address (SONA), Malacañang said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his previous press briefings that Duterte’s speech will revolve on developments during his five years as the country’s chief executive.

The President will focus on improvements in various sectors, particularly socio-economic programs, infrastructure, peace and security, and foreign policy measures of the administration.

The country’s position in the COVID-19 pandemic and remaining plans during Duterte’s term will also be mentioned.

Meanwhile, preparations are ongoing at Malacañang to host several officials for main SONA events due to the limited capacity at the Batasang Pambansa.
