Palace: No violation of Constitution if Duterte runs for VP

The Palace asserted that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte will not violate any law, if he continues to run for the vice presidency in the 2022 elections.

In today’s (Sep. 28) public briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque reiterated that the President will not violate any law if he pursues the vice presidency, following the results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey saying that 60% of adult Filipinos believes Duterte’s plan to run for vice president “would violate the Constitution.”

Moreover, 39% believe he should run for the position, while 1% did not give an answer. The survey was conducted from June 23 to June 26, 2021.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque emphasized that Duterte values the voice of the masses and encouraged the public to wait for the latter’s final decision.
