Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Monday announced the Philippines daily testing capacity has reached 32,100 as of May 20.
“Naabot na po natin ang ating target na 30,000 PCR tests per day. Noong Mayo 20 po ay nakaabot na po tayo sa 32,100 test per day. Nalampasan po natin ang ating target. (We have reached our target of 30,000 tests per day. Last May 20, we have reached 32,100 tests per day. We have surpassed our target.),” Roque disclosed.
“Anim na beses na po ang inilaki ng ating testing capacity (PCR) mula 5,000 noong April 15 sa loob lamang ng isang buwan (Our PCR testing capacity has grown six times within a month from 5,000 last April 15),” Roque added.
Roque also reported the updated guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) wherein public and private hospitals, health and emergency frontline service, medical supplies manufacturers, workers in agriculture, forestry, fishery industries, and delivery courier services are allowed with full operational capacity.
Gatherings for critical government services and authorized humanitarian activities are also allowed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), and general community quarantine (GCQ).
Regarding the new survey of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) on the worry of Filipinos about being infected with COVID-19, the presidential adviser said it is the reason behind the constant reminders to follow minimum public health standards as the government continues to strengthen measures against the disease.
