MANILA — Malacañang announced the suspension of work in the executive department and classes in Metro Manila in all levels on Monday, starting 3 p.m. due to inclement weather brought about by an enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat).
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has issued a Memorandum Circular on the suspension pursuant to the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
“Pursuant to the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and expected inclement weather, the Executive Secretary has issued Memorandum Circular (MC) 46 suspending work in the executive department and classes in all levels starting 3 p.m. today (June 11),” the statement read.
Meanwhile, agencies of the government involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness, and other vital services will continue with their operations.
The Office of the Executive Secretary said that it will leave the suspension of work for private companies and offices to the sound discretion of their companies/employers.
State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) earlier said that typhoon “Domeng” had left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday morning.
However, the severe tropical storm continues to enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) that will bring moderate to heavy rains in most parts of the country on Monday.
It has maximum winds of up to 100 km/hour with gustiness up to 120 km/hour and moving east-northeast at 23 km/hour.
