Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said on Tuesday that the government is open to proposed legislation from lawmakers that would help in bolstering the Independent Commission on Infrastructure’s (ICI) probe into this national issue.

Castro noted such cognizance of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s effective approach in staying on top of all matters concerning lapses in government public works.

Citing Senate President Tito Sotto’s calls to certify Senate Bill No. 1215 as urgent, she told the media, “Welcome po ang lahat ng maaaring maitulong para maging mas malakas pa po ang kapangyarihan ng Independent Commission na ito, dahil iisa lang din po ang adhikain at layunin nito: ang mapanagot ang dapat mapanagot.”

SB 1215 seeks the creation of an Independent People’s Commission, a five-member committee that would work closely with the Commission on Audit (CoA) to look into anomalies on all government projects.

Recently, the President announced the complete roster of members that make up the ICI, a fact-finding body that seeks to unearth the truth amid mounting public sentiments lamenting the widespread corruption behind ‘ghost’ and anomalous flood control projects.
