CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The city government of San Fernando has awarded a safety seal to six malls here found compliant with its minimum public health standards (MPHS).
SM City Pampanga, SM Downtown, SM Telabastagan, Robinsons Starmills, Waltermart, and Vista Mall secured and displayed their safety seal at their entrance after passing the assessment and inspection of the local government unit (LGU).
Dr. Carlos B. Mercado, the officer in charge of the City Health Office and Incident Commander, said Friday the safety seal is given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, with other government agencies, to establishments that comply with the safety protocols against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Mercado said the seal also aims to strengthen the contact tracing initiative of the LGU to effectively contain the spread of the virus.
“With this seal, we also encourage the establishments to adopt the StaySafe.ph digital contact tracing application. Pinaka-importante yung contact tracing application dyan. Hindi kasi masyadong nakatuon ang pansin ng mga mall sa contact tracing kaya minsan nagkaka-problema tayo kapag may isang naireport na nag-positive sa establishment nila,” Mercado said in an official social media account post.
The safety seal is valid for six months from the date of issuance, except for those issued to tourism enterprises, which shall be valid for a year.
It is renewable so long as the establishment sustains strict compliance with MPHS and other eligibility requirements.
This may be also revoked by the issuing authority or due to a valid complaint.
Meanwhile, City Local Government Operations officer Marites Quillope urged other business establishments to apply for the safety seal to safely reopen the city’s economy.
“Makakadagdag po ito ng mga clients ninyo dahil ‘pag nakita nilang may safety seal kayo sigurado sila na sumusunod kayo sa health standards natin and there will be confidence sa part nila to enter your establishment. Kasi yun naman talaga ang aim ng safety seal,” Quillope said.
Meanwhile, the city government is continuously assessing and inspecting other establishments here that are eligible for a safety seal. (PNA) -rir
