Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo averred that no mass transportation trouble is taking place in the country to date. The statement came after a certain bank identified the Philippines as the third-in-a-list of nations with the lowest quality of living. One of the premises of the judgment was the transportation status of the Philippines. Panelo added that the President was already apprised of the condition of the passengers affected by the Light Rail Transit (LRT)-2 incident. Moreover, he challenged the LRT-2 management to improve its services.
Meanwhile, the palace mentioned that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has the discretion on the immediate release of franchise to jeepneys that will serve as alternate vehicles of passengers affected by the limited operation of the LRT-2.
