Pangasinan Reformation Center starts training for drug surrenderers

BURGOS, Pangasinan — A total of 28 male drug reformists here are now on their second day of training for the integrated reformation program under the Pangasinan Reformation Center (PRC).

Eugenie Guiang, officer in charge of PRC in an interview with the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Wednesday, said the reformists from this town are the first batch of trainees at the PRC.

“The PRC seeks to help promote the general welfare of these reformists by bringing them closer to social services, which include livelihood undertakings they could engage in,” Guiang said.

The four-day integrated training program covers activities such as Zumba exercises; Talent Night; and livelihood training among others for the reformists, which are handled by trained professionals from the workforce of the provincial government said Guiang.

She added, “For its initial batch of reformists, the PRC accommodates moderately affected drug users, who have surrendered and committed to reform themselves to be productive members of the society again.”

Guiang admitted that two female reformists from this town have not been enlisted for the said training as the facility can only accommodate male reformists at present.

Executive Assistant IV Ramon Morden, urged the reformists during the opening program on Tuesday, to take advantage of this good opportunity given to them.

The on-going integrated training program will end on Friday.

Moreover, more male reformists from other towns and cities of the province are also scheduled for the integrated training program in the coming days.

“We are still fixing the schedules for them”, Guiang said.

The PRC will also be opened to the public to cater leadership and disaster management trainings in the future.

The PRC has 60-bed capacity and houses facilities that are deemed helpful for the holistic reformation of Pangasinenses. (Hilda Austria/PNA)
