Paolo Duterte lashes back at ‘insane’ Joma over drug links

DAVAO CITY–Presidential son and former vice mayor Paolo Duterte lashed back at Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding Chairperson Jose Maria Sison, who claimed that he and President Rodrigo Duterte are the biggest protectors of illegal drugs, describing it as insanely absurd.

In a press statement on Friday, the former vice mayor said Sison’s statement confirms that the founder of the oldest terror group in Southeast Asia has gone insane.

“The statement sounded insanely absurd as it was a repetition of, if not inspired by, an old gossip propagated and sowed around by an anti-Duterte Senator, who is also a rabid anti-communist,” Paolo said.

Sison said the illegal drug problem has worsened under Duterte, alleging without basis that “his (Duterte) own family is involved in large-scale drug smuggling and his regime protects the biggest drug lords and protectors at the level of governors and generals.”

Paolo described Sison as “a pathological liar himself”, who was “parroting a lie.” He added that Sison’s meaningless repetition “showed how much Mr. Sison was willing to take for the sake of public attention, propaganda, and significance.”

The former vice mayor maintained that Sison’s statement showed the CPP’s brand of politics and principles — “where it’s acceptable for enemies to sleep together in one bed, speak one language, and unify forces and work together until the common target is toppled down”.

“But Mr Sison’s insanity, just like the bloody Maoist revolution in the Philippines, will fail,” the Presidential Son said.

Paolo said Sison and the CPP-NDFP-NPA will be remembered in history for their contribution in the revolution that victimized the oppressed, the poor, and ultimately, the growth and development of the Philippines.

“Mr. Sison, the father of the oldest terror group in Southeast Asia, is a disgrace to this country,” he added.

On several occasions, the President denied Paolo’s involvement in illegal drugs smuggling, even ordering authorities to kill his son if the allegation is proven true. (Lilian C. Mellejor/PNA)
