‘Paolo’ now a typhoon, to bring rains over most parts of PH

MANILA — ‘Paolo’ had strengthened into a typhoon and would bring rains over most parts of the country, state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.

As of 3 a.m., ‘Paolo’ was located 765 km. east of Guiuan, East Samar, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph.

‘Paolo’ is moving north-northwest at a speed of 17 kph.

Scattered light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains caused by the typhoon will prevail over Metro Manila, CALABARZON,Bicol region, Visayas, Mindanao and the provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Aurora.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said a low pressure area (LPA) located at 260 km west northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, would bring scattered light to moderate with occasionally heavy rains over the province.

The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies apart from isolated rainshowers mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Moderate to strong winds will blow over the archipelago while coastal waters will be from moderate to rough. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
