Parojinog kin nabbed in Taiwan

MANILA — Taiwanese authorities have arrested a sibling of the late Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog who is a key player in the family-run drug cartel.

In a text message to reporters Thursday, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Chief Supt. John Bulalacao confirmed they are still awaiting for the final report following the confirmation by the PNP Drug Enforcement Group of the arrest of Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog.

A PHP5-million bounty for Ardot’s capture had earlier been announced by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The councilor has eluded capture for 10 months after a raid on the family residence last July which resulted in Aldong’s death along with 11 others.

Earlier this month, a raid on the Parojinog-owned Dottie’s Inn and the MROP Security Agency yielded a number of high-powered firearms including two rocket -propelled grenades and numerous shotguns. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
