MANILA — Some areas of North Avenue in Quezon City will be closed to traffic starting Thursday night until Friday morning to give way for the relocation of power lines by Manila Electric Company (Meralco), which are affected by the ongoing construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line-7 (MRT-7) Project.

In its traffic advisory, the MRT-7 Project Management Task Force of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said that the stretch of North Avenue, from Elliptical Road to Mindanao Avenue going to SM North EDSA, will be closed from 11 p.m. of March 21 until 5 a.m. of March 22.

The leftmost side of Elliptical Road will be barricaded to give way for the installation of overhead facilities while one lane along East Avenue will be occupied for the replacement of the primary lines.

Motorists going to Edsa are advised to take Quezon Avenue while vehicles going to Veterans Memorial Medical Center may take Quezon Avenue then turn right at Agham Road to North Avenue.

“The Task Force seeks the public’s understanding for the inconvenience that may be caused during the closure. Traffic enforcers will be deployed at the abovementioned working areas for assistance,” the DOTr’s advisory read.

The MRT-7 is envisioned to be a 22.8-kilometer railway line that will consist of 14 stations traversing North Avenue to the City of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan province.
