Citing healthcare among his administration’s top priorities, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. continues to champion initiatives that would ensure a thriving and healthy population for future generations to come.
This, as the President witnessed the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC)–Global City and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) at a private hospital in Taguig City on Tuesday.
The MOA signing ceremony strengthens the implementation of the No Co-payment Policy in support of the government’s Universal Healthcare Agenda, likewise reflecting the enduring collaboration between the public and private sectors in making healthcare accessible.
President Marcos Jr. expounded the benefits of this partnership in his speech, “For a patient, this can mean less time worrying about whether treatment is within reach, more time focusing on getting better.
For a family, it can mean relief from the fear that one medical emergency can consume the savings or force them to choose between treatment and other basic needs.”
He went on to reaffirm the administration’s commitment towards sustaining other government programs that help alleviate the financial burden of medical care on Filipinos, which include:
- Zero Balance Billing (ZBB) in DOH hospitals
- Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP)
- PhilHealth’s Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP)
- Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) Program
- Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Service (BUCAS) Centers
After the signing ceremony, the President was briefed on the implementation of the ‘No Co-Payment Policy’ for PhilHealth members admitted to basic or ward accommodations.
In support of sustainability, domestic growth
Earlier, the Chief Executive visited MD Juan Enterprises, Inc. in Caloocan City, which manufactures parts for civilian and military jeeps.
During a walkthrough around the facility, he witnessed the process of electrodeposition (ED), which uses an electric current to apply a thin layer of primer to shield metal components from rust and corrosion.
In a media statement, President Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the government’s unwavering support for the local manufacturing industry, especially concerning automobile parts that may be used in manufacturing electric vehicles and jeepneys in support of the transition towards e-mobility.
Supporting this agenda, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) aims to increase the scope and productivity of ED technology in the country by year-end. (with reports from Clay Pardilla and Kenneth Paciente | PTV News)
