PBBM encourages citizenry participation in revamp of outdated gov’t policies

Recognizing the plight of citizens dealing with inefficiencies in government services and transactions, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on the citizenry to provide meaningful feedback that would aid in streamlining these processes.

In his video message posted to social media on Monday, the President noted digitalization as an instrumental tool in enhancing the convenience and accessibility of public services to the masses, ensuring shorter queues and plugging loopholes that can be exploited for heinous acts.

“Dito sa ating bansa, marami pang polisiya ang kailangan natin baguhin at rebisahin. Nakikita natin sa balita at naririnig natin ang mga kababayan natin, ang kanilang mga reklamo.”

This, as President Marcos Jr. highlighted various quality-of-life improvements that would strongly resonate with the masses once meaningful policy changes are enacted into law, citing examples from other countries that have instilled discipline among people and brought law in harmony with its constituents.

He added that there are clear solutions to long-standing inefficiencies in government services, such as the use of the eGovPH app and the digitalization of government systems.

The President cited some examples of good policies, such as the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) suspension of the physical confiscation of driver’s licenses and recognition of digital licenses; LRT and MRT Beep cards for 50 percent discounts for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities; LRT and MRT family promo every Sunday; expansion of the zero billing policy to cover middle-class; and free Wi-Fi in LRT and MRT stations.

However, the Chief Executive pointed out that legitimate change will only take place if the masses actively participate in improving the system, stating that progress must not come at the public expense of navigating inconveniences in government transactions.
