In a Labor Day message on Thursday, May 1, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. honored Filipino workers whom he described as crucial in furthering the nation’s progress.

The Chief Executive lauded the hard work, dedication, and sacrifices of the country’s laborers whose tireless efforts greatly contributed to the country’s constant economic growth.

President Marcos also underscored that “work” is not merely a means of personal advancement, but a vital contribution to the nation’s history—as every worker strives not only for their family’s welfare but also for the greater good.

He also emphasized that the essence of Labor Day lies in advancing advocacies catered toward addressing the welfare of workers and their families, ensuring safety in their workplaces, and upholding their rights as the “backbone” of the country’s various industries.

President Marcos added that such policies must reflect the belief that a nation’s true wealth lies not in profit, but in the dignity of its people.
