Shortly after engaging with Polish President Karol Nawrocki during the latter’s four-day state visit to the Philippines, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. embarked on a working visit to Singapore late Wednesday.
In a departure statement, the President outlined some engagements that form part of his itinerary. Chief among these is his attendance at the 24th Forbes Global CEO Conference, which brings together around 450 business and thought leaders from around the world.
The President said, “I will present the opportunities that the Philippines offers in digital technology, AI, and advanced manufacturing.”
President Marcos Jr. stressed that the government’s goal goes beyond attracting investments, as the country must also build the infrastructure, energy capacity and technical expertise needed to sustain emerging industries.
He will also pay a visit to the Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute to adopt best practices in handling and developing nuclear technology, which aligns with one of his agendas during SONA 2026 that revolved around championing nuclear energy as the next milestone in ensuring energy security for the Philippines.
The President is also set to meet with Singapore Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments.
The plane carrying the Chief Executive touched down at Changi Airport at Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 11:05 p.m.
Home to 220,000 Filipinos, Singapore is the Philippines’ 7th largest export destination and the 3rd highest source of Net Foreign Direct Investment. Singapore is also poised to take the helm of ASEAN Chairship for 2027. (with report from Clay Pardilla | PTV News)
